Key Responsibilities
➢ Performance management of the Supervisors and Operators for pilot and small-scale operations.
➢ Ensure chemical processes and equipment are operated safely, in compliance with ISO and
in accordance with the Manufacturing Directions and production schedule.
➢ Identifying KPIs and implementing change for continuous improvement in the pilot plant.
➢ Reporting adherence to schedules and informing GM of progress to customer.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Lead a team of Pilot-Plant Supervisors and Operators for Pilot Scale ups and Small-scale production Supervisors who operate within a permanent rotating shift pattern.
Responsible for maintaining and developing a shift rotation.
• 2. Ensure manufactures are carried out in in compliance with ISO and in accordance with the Manufacturing Directions.
• 3. Maintain a high level of focus on ensuring the safety of yourself and others within the manufacturing facilities in general and while conducting all Pilot trials and manufacturing operations.
• 4. Ensure manufacturing batches are completed in line with the production schedule, and keep the GM informed on a regular basis of progress and circumstances which alter agreed timescales. Implement and review the production plan on an ongoing basis. Take necessary actions to promote schedule adherence wherever possible.
• 5. Liaise regularly with key departments e.g. R&D, Engineering, Environmental, QC and Supply chain to ensure efficient throughput is maintained.
• 6. Liaise with engineering department during the planning, installation and commissioning of new equipment in the pilot-plant and small-scale production areas.
• 7. Ensure documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner by all staff by undertaking regular walk around and maintaining metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• 8. Ensure procedures (ISO, Engineering, HSE, etc.) are understood and followed by yourself and your line reports.
• 9. Set by personal example high standards of operation and conduct and maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the Pilot-Plant facilities.
• 10. Undertake other duties in relation to the position as reasonably required, including working additional hours as reasonably requested by GM Process Engg.
• 11. Review quality events on an ongoing basis to identify trends and other issues and formulate appropriate actions.
• 12. Identify non-conformances and where appropriate take action to protect product and minimize disruption to production.
• 13. Ensure that any instruments that are defective or out of calibration are reported to the Maintenance Engineering Department immediately.
• 14. Report all accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately. Lead / assist in investigations to ensure key learnings are incorporated into working practices.
• 15. Review and update Pilot-Plant SOPs.
• 16. Maintain a system to ensure non-plant-based personnel are approved for entry to the
pilot plant. Ensure appropriate Permits to work documentation is completed.
